If you have struggled to find press-on nails that fit a small or narrow nail bed, the short answer is: our narrowest tip is 7.5mm wide, and anything narrower than that can usually be filed to fit. Here is exactly how small we go, which of our six shapes gets you there, and how to keep a small nail from reading as small once the design is on.

How narrow do our tips actually go?

Our sizing runs 0 to 9, where 9 is the smallest number we make — and depending on shape, that smallest size measures 7.5 to 10mm across.

Pinky	7.5–8 mm	under 7.5 mm

Most people land comfortably on size 8 or 9. Where it gets harder is a pinky narrower than 7.5mm, or an index-to-ring finger narrower than 9mm.

The smallest size is different for every shape

The same number, 9, is not the same width on every shape — the shape itself changes how narrow the tip can go.

If your nails run narrow, start with Short Oval or Very Short — that alone solves most of it.

Narrower than 7.5mm? File it down

If even a size-9 Short Oval (7.5mm) still overlaps the skin at the edges:

Hold the tip against the nail and note exactly where it overhangs.
File in one direction only, base to tip, taking off roughly 0.5mm per side.
Check the fit again before removing more.
Smooth the filed edge lightly so it does not catch.

Stop at about 0.5mm per side (1mm total). Beyond that you start distorting the rounded shape of the tip itself. All ten fingers can be sized individually at no extra cost, so there is no need to compromise on the other nine while you adjust one.

Making a small nail look larger, not smaller

Pale pink, beige or milky tones	Soft colour minimises the edge; darker colours draw attention to a small surface
Vertical patterns or a centred accent	Horizontal designs (like a French tip) emphasise width, not length

Soft, single-tone colourways and finely detailed designs with delicate texture tend to suit smaller nail beds particularly well — check the Collection for pale, low-contrast designs if this describes you.

Short or bitten-down nails work fine too

The length of your natural nail barely matters, because the tip itself provides the length — that is true whether your own nail is long or very short. Keep the visible white edge of your natural nail short so there is no gap underneath, wash and wipe with alcohol before applying, and use a small enough piece of adhesive tape to match a smaller nail rather than one cut for an average size.

Yes. Our smallest size (9) measures 7.5mm wide in our Short Oval and Very Short shapes — narrower than that, we file both edges down by hand to fit.

Does the smallest available size differ by shape?

Yes — at size 9, Short Oval and Very Short are 7.5mm, Short Almond is 8mm, Regular Oval and Short Square are 9mm, and Short Ballerina is 10mm.

The smallest size is still too wide — what then?

We can file up to about 0.5mm off each side (1mm total) by hand. Beyond that the tip's rounded shape starts to distort, so we'd recommend a different shape instead.

How do I make small nails look bigger, not smaller?

Choose an oval or almond shape, add 2–3mm of extra length beyond Very Short, and go with pale, single-tone colours — all three create a visual vertical line that reads as longer, narrower fingers.
